Promoting quality music in Knoxville … by any means necessary.
On this page we highlight some of our favorites in and around the Knoxville area. Relationships are important in life and these folks represent those who we enjoy for the services they offer and for their contribution to the local business community. We hope you will show your patronage early and often to Our Kinda People and buy local!
Apparel / Gifts
Bliss – 24 Market Square, Knoxville 865-329-8868 On Market Square, Bliss is our ‘go-to’ store for gifts.
Blue Ridge Mountain Sports – 4610 Kingston Pike, Knoxville 865-588-2638 When you spend as much time as we do in dark, smoky bars and music venues, you need to get your outdoor on to make sure that your lungs still work.
Crouch Florist – 7200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville 865-558-0011 We screw up often. As a result, we need a great florist. Serving Knoxville since 1865 … although none of those flowers are still available.
Mast General Store - 402 South Gay Street, Knoxville, TN 37902-1162 (865) 546-1336 We like hats … and shoes … and stuff that makes us look good. We like Mast.
Bakeries
Magpies Bakery - 846 North Central, Knoxville 865-673-0471 We luvs some cupcakes!
Bars / Restaurants
Bearden Beer Market – 4524 Old Kingston Pike, Knoxville 865-851-8922 Everything Beer. We love the artful renovation of this facility, the outdoor picnic tables, man-cave, and periodic appearance of the Taco Truck. Say Cheers at BBM!
Dead End BBQ – 3621 Sutherland Avenue, Knoxville 865-212-5655 This new establishment is proof that more architects should quit architecture and get into the restaurant business. Ah, we digress. The facility is fantastic, the food delicious. Any time you are highlighted on ESPN for something that has nothing to do with sports, you know you are doing something right. We would give it two thumbs up, if we weren’t using them to feed our face!
Litton’s Market, Restaurant & Bakery – 2803 Essary Road, Knoxville 865-688-0429 You haven’t truly eaten in Knoxville if you haven’t had a burger at Litton’s. We are partial to the Thunder Road burger – pimento cheese, sauteed onions and jalepeno peppers – but we’re weird that way.
Long’s Drug Store – 4604 Kingston Pike, Knoxville 865-588-0581 Oh, it’s more than a drug store, it’s an institution.
Nama Sushi Bar – 135 Gay St., Knoxville (Downtown) 865-633-8539; 5130 Kingston Pike, Knoxville (Bearden or ‘midtown’, as you may like) 865-588-9811 Half-price sushi menu – Monday and Thursday, 4 pm to close
The Public House – 212 W. Magnolia Ave., Knoxville, TN 37917 (865) 247-4344 Opened in November 2010, the Public House provides a fresh concept to Knoxville – a no-smoking, no-television, no live-music gathering place. Although we love live music at knoxmusictoday.com, we do need some peace and friendly conversation now and then. And foodies – you know who you are – will love the eclectic menu featuring regional and fresh local and national products. Be sure to compliment the owners – David, Eric and Laura – on the fine renovation of the space and beg for a patio!
Toddy’s Backdoor Tavern – 4951 Kingston Pike, Knoxville 865-602-7776 Where do you even start with this Knoxville tavern for the ages? Enjoy the horseshoe pit, dart boards, jukebox, and more memorabilia than you can hit with a swing of a dead cat. Tell Barry how much you love the place and remember to tip your bartenders. If you are lucky, either the lovely Rhetta or Jo will be happy to welcome you with a tasty beverage!
Union Jack’s English Pub – 124 Northshore Drive, Knoxville, TN 37919 (865) 584-5161 A wide range of beers on tap and two large glass coolers of bottled selections are the backbone of this local favorite tavern. UJ’s offers a legendary jukebox, darts and pool, and a friendly staff. Ask Val for a black velvet (Guinness and cider mix), because she makes the best one in town!
Bookstores
McKay Used Books, CDs, DVDs & more – 230 Papermill Place Way, Knoxville 865-588-0331 Books, Jerry, they read books! This place is so good, my parents stop there first when they visit town. Before they even make it to the house!
